Dr. Danilda Osunfisan, SLPD-CCC of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, earned her bachelor's degree in child development from Florida State University and her master's degree in communication science disorders from Rockhurst University. Dr.Osunfisan recently completed her capstone experience, marking the final step in becoming the first student to complete the Doctor of Speech-Language Pathology (SLPD) program at the University of Kansas. Dr. Osunfisan's capstone project explored issues associated with interactive book reading for bilingual children with specific language impairments. The project advanced her understanding of the challenges associated with developing and implementing appropriate interventions for bilingual children, as well as finding ways to involve parents and other caregivers in the treatment process. She has years of clinical experience researching the challenges faced by children acquiring two languages. She plans to continue working with bilingual children and their caregivers by applying what she has learned to her clinical practice.
